Starting again and Emily Dickinson poem

Making a new effort to continue a personal blog. I have a Twitter account I hardly use. Maybe because I have more to say than what will fit in their brief posts. I review books, adding much of my thoughts regarding life. Facebook is not the place I want to write many of my thoughts. I do not want all my friends and family to know many of my thoughts, even if I think it important that the thought be heard. Sometimes it is too depressing. Sometimes I don’t want feedback from them, or having people thinking things about what I said or gossiping without discussing it with me.

Had forgotten I had this blog; it’s been so long.

Upon reading a poetry book collected for middle grades to teens, I came across a poem by Emily Dickinson that hit me and wants to stick. It’s a bit brooding, but that is how I have been feeling the past few weeks. The book is Poetry Speaks: Who I Am. Edited by Elise Paschen.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

My, how are society has moved away from this idea. I want it to move back to promoting communities that work together. I want it to be less selfish than it has become.
